HANA YORI DANGO 1

makino Tsukushi is a tough, hard working, and poor student at the prestigious Eitoku Gakuen school attended by the rich. Worse yet, the school is ruled by the handsome, powerful and ridiculously wealthy F4 or Flower 4, whom nobody dares to challenge.

Tsukushi is immersed into the lives of the F4 after defending her friend. She receives a red tag from F4, and as a result, the whole school turns against her. Despite the harassment, Tsukushi, the "tough weed", decides to clean up the F4's act and declares a war back on them. Her defiance ironically causes F4's leader, Domyoji Tsukasa, to fall in love with her, but Tsukushi is in love with the Flower 4's mascot boy, the sensitive Hanazawa Rui.

Hana yori Dango returns for a second season, picking up the story a year after the events of the first season. Makino Tsukushi finds herself lost in New York in search for Domyoji Tsukasa after he left for New York to study. Surprises and trials are then set in place for the couple as Tsukushi finds that Tsukasa has changed due to a secret he cannot say. Tsukushi returns to New York with F3 after Tsukasa's cold behaviour towards her.

Further surprises are enplaced when the announcement that Tsukasa will be marrying fiancee Shigeru is made, and to make it even more confusing, Hanazawa Rui now confesses that he likes Makino.

HANA YORI DANGO FINAL

Tsukasa Dōmyōji and Tsukushi Makino are driving in a red convertible through the Nevada desert when there is a flashback depicting the events leading up to their current situation. Weeks prior, Tsukasa held a press conference, announcing to the world that he was engaged to Tsukushi. He revealed her identity by publicly releasing an embarrassing picture of her eating ramen, angering Tsukushi. Furthermore, as a result of the announcement, Tsukushi's family became targets of media attention.

Soon after, Tsukushi’s parents formally met with Kaede Dōmyōji, Tsukasa’s mother, to discuss the wedding engagement. Kaede presented Tsukushi with "Smile of Venus" (ビーナスの微笑み, Binasu no Hohoemi?), a tiara which grants endless love to the owner and her partner. Upon accepting the tiara, Tsukushi, Tsukasa and Tsukushi's family proceeded to spend time at Hotel Volver. Tsukushi's family left her and Tsukasa alone together, to which the two are about to kiss when a disguised man in black crashed through the giant hotel window, seized the tiara in its case and ran off, forcing Tsukasa to pursue the thief with Tsukushi chasing far behind. However, the thief managed to escape in a helicopter. Tsukushi and Tsukasa returned to their room, where they noticed that the broken window was fixed as if nothing happened earlier. Even the hotel staff claimed that they heard of no disturbances, even though Tsukasa and the thief fought in the kitchen and created chaos throughout the hotel. After some investigation, Tsukasa's butler Nishida informed Tsukasa that the thief may be in Las Vegas. To get the tiara back without anyone else knowing, Tsukasa and Tsukushi secretly planned to go there.

At Rui Hanazawa's house, Rui was on the phone with Shizuka Tōdō just before her wedding ceremony. He stated that he has many things to graduate from, including her, before giving her his blessings. Tsukasa then gave Rui a surprise visit to inform Rui of his plans, including how he will leave everything up to Rui in case something were to happen to him. Rui asked him why he did not contact Sōjirō Nishikado or Akira Mimasaka instead, but Tsukasa told him that the two had their hands full with tea ceremonies and assassinations in Hong Kong respectively.

Tsukushi and Tsukasa are now in the Nevada desert and finally arrive in Las Vegas. They check into a cheap motel in order to lay low before going to a casino, which is a location that Nishida told them the thief may be at. On the way, they run into Shigeru Okawahara and have dinner with her. During dinner, Shigeru reveals that she is seeing Kazu Kaburagi, the son of a large scale company that owns the hotel where the tiara was stolen. Tsukasa goes on to question Kaburagi, but Kaburagi says that he was told to pretend nothing happened on that day at Hotel Volver; in return for his cooperation, five million USD was deposited into his account. Kaburagi then claims he does not know who the thief is.

Back in the motel, Akira calls Tsukasa from Hong Kong and informs him that the tiara they were looking for will go on auction on the black market. Tsukushi and Tsukasa then plan to head for Hong Kong next before Kaburagi arrives at their door, saying that he heard about the auction. He gives them the five million USD to help them get the tiara back, to which Tsukushi is thankful for. However, as Tsukushi sees him out, Kaburagi asks her if she is ready for marriage since she is still young, which causes her to become uneasy. Tsukushi and Tsukasa head back to the casino and begin to gamble the five million USD at the roulette table in order to pay Kuburagi back. Just as the roulette is spinning, the two notice the thief and Tsukasa chases after him by jumping on and over the table, causing the ball to land just one space from the winning space. The thief gets away and Tsukushi is thrown out the casino for refusing to hand over the money. Outside, she reunites with Tsukasa and the rest of F4, who Tsukasa called to help earlier.

The five head over to Hong Kong together in a private jet for the auction. They eventually manage to win the tiara back but things get complicated when Tsukushi catches sight of Rui talking to the tiara's thief. She tells Tsukasa about what she saw, but he does not believe her story; they get into another fight. The next day, Tsukushi boards the private jet, finding Tsukasa already there though they are still on bad terms. A flight attendant serves them spiked champagne, the two pass out and the tiara's thief comes back to steal back the tiara again.

The two end up on an uninhabited island with their luggage and are forced to live on the island while waiting for help. They soon realize that their wild goose chase around the world is similar to the story behind the "Smile of Venus" while they learn to enjoy their life together. Just as Tsukasa answers Tsukushi's question to what his dream is, a helicopter arrives to pick them off the island and move on to the final phase. They arrive at an estate and confronts the man who they saw at the auction back in Hong Kong. The man reveals that there was never a "Smile of Venus" to begin with when Tsukasa tosses it into a pond and further reveals that everything they went through had been a ploy by Kaede and Tsukushi's parents to ensure that the marriage between Tsukushi and Tsukasa would really make Tsukushi happy as young people do not understand the joys and hardships of marriage. Everyone involved, including the rest of F4, were also part of the act. F4 then presents the two with a "F4-produced" wedding ceremony at the Yebisu Garden Place, where Tsukushi and Tsukasa finally marry with Rui as their priest and kiss.

One year later, Sōjirō is at a signing event after releasing a book, Akira is holding a meeting with his fellow underground men, and Tsukasa and Tsukushi are spending some time together on the uninhabited island they were stranded on. As they write "Love" on the beach, Tsukasa asks Tsukushi what her dream is; she places her hand over stomach and says that it has come true. Overjoyed by the indication, Tsukasa runs up to Tsukushi and listens to her stomach. Meanwhile, Rui has finally moved on from Shizuka as he places a picture of Tsukushi and F4 on his windowsill.
